The Environmental Advisory Council
The Environmental Advisory Council has been the Government’s advisory body on environmental matters since 1968. The composition and tasks of the Council have varied over time. One important task has been to give the Government advice on topical questions or future issues related to the environment. The Delegation for Sustainable Cities - a national arena for sustainable urban development The Government has remodelled the Environmental Advisory Council so that it includes, as of 2008, the Delegation for Sustainable Cities – a national arena for sustainable urban development. The delegation is appointed by the Government from 2008-2010. The delegation works for a sustainable development of cities, population centers and housing areas. It stimulates the work for long-term well functioning and attractive city environments where high quality of life goes hand in hand with a better environment, economic growth, social cohesion and a reduced climate impact.
